Özet

This paper aims at exploring partly the helping activities of the universities toward the poor students in order to discuss the adequacy of application form for scholarship. It basically focuses on the current condition of Ondokuz Mayis University in helping the poor students; yet it tries to attract attention to the conditions of some other universities as well. The essential motivation for doing some research on this subject matter can be put as follows: the inadequacy of the current application form for scholarship paves way two different directions. It creates some difficulties for the authorities to make a just distribution of scholarship and causes some disbelief among students related to manner of distribution. It has been observed that there is no coordination between universities on this matter. To understand better the dimensions of the inadequacy of application form for scholarship, it was opened to discussion by the students themselves and some specialists on it. Then this paper suggests a different form of application concerning the correlation between the criteria of determining poor students and point system. It also suggests that a just and better form of application can only be realized by renewing and revisiting it upon the changing situations in terms of coordination between the universities.
