Özet

The aim of this paper was to evaluate the toxicity of six different endodontic sealers, most frequently used in our clinical practice (AH Plus, AH 26, RSA, Sealapex, Diaket and Endomethasone). Prepared specimens from silicon based sealers (RSA), resin based sealers (AH Plus, AH 26), calcium hydroxide based sealer (Sealapex), Polyketone based sealer (Diaket) and zinc oxide-eugenol based sealer (Endomethansone) were eluted with culture medium for 7 and 15 days in different diluted solutions. These samples exposed to 3T3 cells for one, four and seven days. The cytotoxic effects of these eluates were appraised. All of the sealers showed statistically significant differences in the degree of toxicity (p<0.00 1). The toxicity response decreased in the order of AH 26>Sealapex>Diaket>Endomethasone>AH Plus>RSA. These results confirm that the dilute solution of root canal sealers after being set for extended period of times caused moderate or severe toxic reactions to culture cells.
