In the present study, changes in blood gases, and some haematological-biochemical parameters in experimentally induced liver cirrhosis were investigated. 10 healthy dogs (13-18 kg body weight, 1-3 years old) were used in the study. Blood samples were analysed for pH, pO2, HCO3, pCO2, tCO2, Hb, RBC, ALT and AST. pH concentration, pO2 and HCO3 levels decreased significantly (p<0.01) compared to the control data. Increases in haemoglobin and erythrocyte concentrations and the elevation in ALT and AST enzymes activities as compared to controls, were also found statistically significant (p<0.01).
