Özet

In this study, we aimed to determine the role of a novel peptide - nesfatin 1-in appetite control and define its anorectic mechanism in order to reveal whether it can be used in fight against obesity. We reviewed the articles in the literature investigating the structure, mechanism of effect and experimental usefulness of nesfatin-1. We entered the word "nesfatin" to medical databases and reviewed the literature. Administration of nesfatin-1 maintains a significant reduce in food intake. Its effectiveness in rats is proven. More and more, new researches are in progress to determine its exact mechanism of effect. Nesfatin-1 is a satiety agent. However, use of nesfatin-1 as an anti-obesity agent in humans remains an unclarified field and needs further investigations.
