Özet

Compared with the old Geography Teaching Programme, the new Geography, Teaching Department for High School First Graders is a different programme in that it is a student centered programme. In this programme, teaching activities, assessment of students' success and Geographical skills are given much more importance than the old programmes. One considerable drawback of this programme is that its content is not dear enough. The number courses per week is not enough to cover all the topics in the program. There are some cases which have nothing to do with the spirit of geography, which result from the wrong systematization of the contents of the program. The fact that acquisitions are very general is another problem with the program. Both the teachers and the schools are not up to the requirements of the program, which result in the failure of the programme because it cannot be applied properly However, it must be kept in mind that both the positive and negative aspects of the program are just part of program development.
