Özet

Scouting is defined as voluntary, non-political, international, uniformed educational youth movement that contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, emotional, spiritual and character progress of variety groups of children and youngsters. The main purpose of this study is to is to draw attention to the importance and educational value of the scouting movement in values education and the basic values it brings to children based on the experiences and opinions of the scout leader teachers. The sample of the study consists of 43 scout leaders working in different provinces. The data of the research was obtained through a structured interview form developed by the researcher. Descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the data. The results showed that scouting supports school education, contributes significantly to the physical, social, psychological, emotional and moral development of children and young people and is a very effective activity in values education. In this study, it was determined that scouting studies gave students basic values such as love, respect, friendship, distancing from harmful habits, loyalty to family, truthfulness, patience, honesty, helping and sharing, sense of responsibility, love of homeland and nation, courage, self-confidence, discipline, team spirit, cleanliness and environmental awareness.
