Özet

In the title compound, [CoCl2(C11H15N3O2)], the Co-II ion is five-coordinated in a strongly distorted square-pyramidal arrangement, with one of the two Cl atoms located in the apical position, and the other Cl atom and the three N-donor atoms of the tridentate methyloxime ligand located in the basal plane. The non-H atoms, except for the Cl atoms, lie on a mirror plane. The two equatorial Co-N-oxime distances are almost equal (mean 2.253 angstrom) and are substantially longer than the equatorial Co-N-pyridine bond [2.0390 (19) angstrom]. The structure is stabilized by intra- and intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot Cl contacts, which involve one of the methyl C atoms belonging to the methyloxime groups.
