Özet

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of the intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) in cases of vitreous hemorrhage (VH) due to proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Materials and Methods: The data of 27 patients with VH due to PDR, who received previous panretinal laser photocoagulation, were analyzed retrospectively. 16 eyes received IVB were accepted as study group (group 1) and 11 eyes did not received IVB were accepted as control group (group 2). Efficacy outcomes were considered as the change in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) from baseline and clearance of VH. Results: Increase in BCVA in groups 1 and 2 was 0.99±0.80 (2.0-0.0) and 0.50±0.47 (1.3-0.0) logMAR, respectively. In both groups, the mean BCVA changed significantly during follow-up compared to baseline. Statistically significant differences were not seen between the groups in terms of changes in BCVA. VH cleared completely in 12 (75%) and 7 (63.7%) eyes in group 1 and 2, respectively (p=0.385). Average clearance time was 4.7±0.8 weeks in group 1 and 8.4±2.3 weeks in group 2 (p=0.099). The mean time to reach maximum BCVA was 7.3±1.8 weeks in group 1 and 12.6±4.0 weeks in group 2. Recurrent VH was seen in 4 (25%) and 1 (9.1%) eyes in group 1 and 2, respectively. Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) was performed in 4 (25%) eyes in group 1 and 3 (27.3%) eyes in group 2. Conclusion: IVB is applicable to shorten the clearance time of VH in patients with VH due to PDR. In this study, PPV requirement was not decreased with IVB in cases.
