Özet

Aim: Air ambulances are used to save patients and deliver firstaid where it is hard or impossible to access by land under favorableweather conditions. Air ambulances are indispensable in modernhealth care services. Air ambulance services are invaluable in termsof being fast and reliable and providing early response to thepatients in need as well as being costly. In this study, the aim is todemonstrate availability and efficiency of REMS score as well asNACA score that are frequently used in making a decision on usingair ambulance services.Material and Methods: In this study, 77 patients that weredispatched to the emergency service of our hospital by airambulance between January 2014 – December 2016 as a case orfrom other health centers were evaluated retrospectively. The datawere statistically analysed after they were uploaded to theprogram SPSS (Statistical Package for The Social Scienses) 23.0.Results: While median NACA value is 6 in the exitus cases, it is2 in the surviving cases; there is a statistically significant differencein the median NACA values between the two groups (p<0,001).While median REMS value is 17.5 in the exitus cases, it is 3 in thesurviving cases; there is a statistically significant difference in themedian REMS values between the two groups (p<0,001).Conclusion: Use of REMS score together with NACA score inevaluation of patients prior to helicopter ambulance serviceenables the health personnel to make more efficient and accuratedecisions.
