The 30th International Horticultural Congress (IHC2018) was held in Istanbul-Turkey from 12-17 August 2018; it attracted almost 1800 delegates from more than 90 countries. The program featured 9 plenary lectures, 67 keynote speakers, more than 950 oral and 750 poster presentations in the opening session, 2 Colloquia, 39 (24 within the ISHS series) symposia and 11 workshops. The program included a pre-congress tour to Cappadocia, 2 training sessions on Good Horticultural Practices and Organic Horticulture, "East Europe and Central Asia Summit, business meetings and daily technical tours on August 17, 2018. IHC2018 also hosted the 54th photography exhibition of "Gardens and Flowers of Istanbul".
Tailor made symposia brought together scientists all over the World. Youth workshop aimed at creating a network among young horticulturists and discuss their expectations for future. Bayer was the platinum commercial sponsor of the Congress and is continuing making major contributions to ISHS congresses. Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM)/Aegean Exporters' Association and Anadolu Etap were gold and silver sponsors, respectively. The number of participants was comparatively lower than the last few Congresses, however new participants from developing countries and participation of young research groups were high and all enjoyed being a part of IHC2018 and ISHS.
