Özet

Entrepreneurs always seek opportunities and develop innovations. Therefore, communication skills are essential to realize entrepreneurship. However, the relationship between entrepreneurship perception and communication skills has not been studied appropriately in the literature. This research aimed to determine the relationship between individual entrepreneurship perceptions of university students and their communication skills. Data used in the study were obtained from 304 university students in Turkiye and analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). According to these results, while the Communication sub-dimension had the highest effect on the individual entrepreneurship perceptions scale, the Planning and Self-discipline sub-dimensions had the lowest effect. On the communication skills scale, the willingness to communicate sub-dimension had the highest impact, while the communication principles and basic skills sub-dimension had the lowest impact. A statistically significant positive correlation (t > 2.58; p < 0.01) was determined between the entrepreneurship perception of students and their communication skills. The results suggested that entrepreneurship courses should be included in the curricula of universities or if they exist, the scope of the course should be expanded to strengthen theoretical knowledge and practical training and improve the communication skills of students.
